What is Polygon (MATIC)?
Polygon addresses critical challenges in Ethereum, including high fees, poor user experience, and limited transaction throughput, offering solutions to enhance the overall ecosystem.
With the aim of creating “Ethereum’s internet of blockchains,” Polygon endeavors to establish a multi-chain ecosystem comprising Ethereum-compatible blockchains. This vision is realized through the provision of a user-friendly framework that enables developers to effortlessly create their Ethereum-compatible blockchains with just a single click.
Polygon envisions a future where diverse blockchains can seamlessly and efficiently exchange currency and information, eliminating the existing technological and ideological barriers that hinder interoperability between most blockchains.
Originally known as the decentralized Matic network, the project underwent a name change to Polygon as its scope expanded. Polygon now serves as the architectural framework for a network of highly scalable and collaborative blockchains, maintaining their self-sovereignty. In contrast, Matic was initially designed as a basic layer-2 scaling solution specifically for Ethereum.
